ACTIVITIES AT LOUTRA AMARANTOS

The wider area of Loutra Amarantos is rightly regarded as a paradise for adventure and alpine sports.

Here you can enjoy a range of activities such as hiking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, 4 x 4, mountain biking, horse riding, beekeeping and river trekking.

Using our hotel as your base, you can go on outings to nearby Konitsa where a range of outdoor activities, such as  canoeing, river rafting and paragliding is available. There are many companies offering instruction and organising participation in these activities.

A network of marked trails, easy and difficult, long and short, through pristine virgin forests of black pine, fir and beech, beside rivers and lakes, and to the mountain peaks of the alpine zone, will satisfy the most demanding visitor.

An amazing wild and majestic landscape perfect for hiking and climbing

Mountain biking is another unique experience. There is a wealth of trails through forests of pine, fir and beech to choose from in the surrounding countryside. The quiet roads through the virgin forest are ideal for cyclists to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

A new rock climbing area has been created at Loutra Amarantos by the Hotel Victoria only 50m from the hotel on the road between the steam rooms (sauna) and the hotel. The first of two routes up the “Babas” rock face was opened up by Teo Fassoulas and is named Victoria.

A rock climbing area of great potential with many routes, its easy access combined with a great view makes climbing here ideal all year and at all times of the day.

Kilometres of dirt trails winding though an enchanting landscape are just waiting to be explored. You and your companions will be delighted by the views of impressive mountain peaks, thick forests, steep cliffs, rushing rivers, green clearings and small alpine lakes.

We will be pleased to provide you with maps and information about the routes.

In the summer and early autumn you can watch a demonstration of the basic principles of beekeeping.

Providing you follow all the safety rules (special equipment) you can observe the  bee colony (hive) up close with an experienced beekeeper.

The old stone watermill of Amarantos is located 3km before the village of the same name on the road between Konitsa and Loutra Amarandos.

It stands next to the river, in the generous shade of the age-old plane trees.

This meeting and reference point of the past, a reminder of the toil of years gone by, has been completely restored and is once again ready to grind grain.
